Redhawk Reflections on the First American Mission in Europe, 1942
The Consolidated B-24 Liberator heavy bomber was one of the primary heavy bombers of World War II. This is a B-24D, one of the early variants of the bomber with the big “greenhouse” glazing on the nose, which played a prominent role in combat theaters around the globe in the early years of World War II. It served in the US Navy as well, in which it was designated as the PB4Y-1. (USAF photo)
