Redhawk Reflections on the First American Mission in Europe, 1942

Colonel Harry A, Halverson, a notable figure in the between wars Army Air Corps, was chosen to be the commander of a special air mission to the Far East early in World War II. His unit, the Halverson Project (Halpro) was diverted to the Near East in May, 1942, from where it accomplished the first American air raid on continental Europe in World War II against the oil refineries at Ploiesti, Romania.
