Each summer Camp Rosenbaum sponsors approximately 170 underprivileged children (9-11) from a myriad of low income, public housing agencies in Oregon and Southwest Washington. This unique week-long summer camp is conducted at Camp Rilea (near Astoria) and is staffed by military members, civilian police officers and fire fighters, staff from multiple public housing authorities, and a myriad of volunteers.

The Oregon Air National Guard is the lead agency for Camp Rosenbaum, which is a unique and influential camp that empowers young children to take responsibility for their lives, make good choices, stay away from gangs and drugs, and learn good citizenship skills. Military members participate and serve (among many things) as role models for these kids, many of whom come from broken families, stressful homes, low income families, etc.

Each year, airmen from the 142 FW work (many in their AFSC) at Camp Rosenbaum to help ensure these special camp kids have an experience of a lifetime. If you are interested in participating this year (July 23-29), please monitor the Camp Rosenbaum website (www.camprosenbaum.org) for registration information.

If you have any questions, please contact Lt Col Donna Prigmore, Camp Rosenbaum Director, at x4999 or 360-904-4572.
